St Patrick’s CBC is the only IEB registered school in Kimberley.

IEB National Senior Certificate (IEB NSC): Grade 12

The IEB provides Umalusi accredited examinations in all subjects recognised in the NSC for the schools that are registered with it.

Facts about the IEB NSC:

• The IEB NSC is quality assured by Umalusi which is the Council for Quality Assurance in General and Further Education.
• The IEB NSC is an internationally benchmarked qualification and is equivalent to Cambridge AS level.

The IEB produces consistent, reliable results in the Grade 12 National Senior Certificate:

• Average national pass rate is between 97% and 98%
• Pass with entry to degree study, between 78% and 80%

In grade 9, the only choice is between Afrikaans FAL and Setswana FAL. All the other subjects are compulsory.

The Grade 8s choose their First Additional Language, as well as Music OR Drama.

Music and Advanced Programme Mathematics (APM) are extra subjects for Grade 10, 11 and 12.

In Grade 11 and 12, pupils may choose Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy.

School Times

Please note that school starts promptly at 07h25.
The school day ends at 14h00 each day. Extramural activities take place in the afternoons.

Grade 8 -12 Boys (Summer)

  • Black school shoes
  • CBC grey socks
  • Grey shorts or long grey school pants with a black belt
  • White short sleeved shirt with crest on pocket
  • Tie (not with elastic band)
  • Blazer (Term 1 and 4 – not compulsory for school on a daily basis but needed for assemblies, outings, formal occasions and prize-giving, etc.)
  • Basher and band – to be worn at all formal school events, as well as every Monday

Grade 8 -12 Girls (Summer)

  • Black school shoes
  • White ankle socks
  • Grey skirt (may not be more than 3 fingers above knee when kneeling)
  • Short sleeved white shirts with crest on the pocket
  • Blazer (Term 1 and 4 – not compulsory for school on a daily basis but needed for assemblies, outings, formal occasions and prize-giving, etc.)
  • Bras to be white or flesh colour
  • Basher and band – to be worn at all formal school events, as well as every Monday.
  • Black or navy blue hair accessories

Grade 8 -12 Boys (Winter)

  • Black school shoes
  • CBC grey socks
  • Grey long grey school pants with a black belt
  • White long-sleeved shirt with crest on pocket
  • Tie (not with elastic band)
  • Blazer
  • Grey school pullover or jersey may be worn, but with the blazer
  • Official grey school scarf or beanie (optional)
  • Basher and band – to be worn at all formal school events, as well as every Monday.

Grade 8 -12 Girls (Winter)

  • Black school shoes
  • A grey school skirt or grey trousers (Skirts may not be more than 3 fingers above the knee when kneeling and must be worn with nonshimmer, blackmail pantihose. The trousers must be worn with grey school socks)
  • Black or navy blue hair accessories
  • Long-sleeved white shirts with crest on pocket
  • Tie (not with elastic band)
  • Blazer
  • Bras to be white or flesh colour
