Where more than 120 years of history embrace the future …

The Primary School Initiative, or PSI, was designed and launched in 2015 to complement the IEB’s product offering to independent schools.

What is the PSI
The Primary School Initiative aims to broaden the awareness of the importance of good teaching and assessment practices at the primary school level adnd aims to produce a student who is:
- Equipped with knowledge
- A meaning-maker
- An ethical reasoner
- Possesses the 21st century skills of communication, critical thinking, collaboration and creativity
Focuses of MATCH
While MATCH is rooted in the CAPS requirements, it also aims to test a learner’s understanding of key concepts and their ability to apply these concepts in both familiar and unfamiliar contexts. It is intended to be a true assessment that focuses on the essential skills and the application of knowledge, skills and attitudes required by today’s learner.

Assesments
All Grade 7s write three shared assessments:
- English
- Afrikaans
- Mathematics
Grade 3s, 6s and 7s also write an IEB Benchmark Test annually.
Grade 4 - 7 subjects on offer
- English Home Language
- Mathematics
- Social Sciences (History & Geography)
- Natural Sciences (Physical Sciences & Biology)
- Computer Technology
- Religious Education
- Life Orientation
- PE
- EMS (Grade 7 only)
In grades 4 – 7, pupils have to choose between Afrikaans, Setswana or French as First Additional Language (FAL), and Art, Music or Drama. All the other subjects are compulsory.
School Times
Please note that school starts promptly at 07h25
The School day ends at 14h00 each day.
The Grade R and PR’s finish at 12h00 Monday to Friday.
The Grade 1 day ends at 13h00 every day.
The Grade 2 day ends at 13h30 Monday-Friday.
The Grade 3 – 7’s finish at 14h00 Monday-Friday.
School Uniform
Grade 1 - 7 Boys (Summer)
- Black school shoes
- CBC grey socks
- Grey shorts
- White short-sleeved open neck shirt with Crest on pocket
- Blazer (not compulsory for school on a daily basis but needed for assemblies, outings, formal occasions and prize-giving, etc.)
- On very cold days the grey school pullover or jersey may be worn, but with the blazer
Grade 1 - 7 Girls (Summer)
- Black school shoes
- White ankle socks
- CBC summer dress
- Blazer (not compulsory for school on a daily basis but needed for assemblies, outings, formal occasions and prize-giving, etc.)
- On very cold days the grey school pullover or jersey may be worn, but with the blazer
- Black hairbands/ scrunchies
Grade 1 - 7 Boys (Winter)
- Black school shoes
- Long grey school trousers
- A long-sleeved white shirt and school tie
- CBC grey socks
- Blazer
- Grey school pullover or jersey may be worn, but with the blazer
- Official grey school scarf or beanie (optional)
Grade 1 - 7 Girls (Winter)
- Black school shoes
- Grey CBC school tunic or long, grey school trousers
- CBC grey socks
- Blazer
- Grey school pullover or jersey may be worn, but with the blazer
- Black hairbands/ scrunchies
- Official grey school scarf or beanie (optional)
