School of the arts – how to register
Even though academics is the core function of our school and the very reason it was established in 1897, we believe that ART is ultimately the soul of our school. Many of our pupils are culture-lovers – be it singing, drama, dance, poetry, art or playing an instrument. The arts are ultimately what make us most complete as humans.
The arts have always been an integral part of our school life. The arts cannot be mastered through occasional exposure any more than mathematics or science can. Committing to the arts, in whichever capacity, requires patience, commitment, perseverance, self-motivation, and loads of self-discipline. Acceptance into our music programme is dependent on passing a means test in musicality. Part of the tuition program is the attendance and participation in the orchestras and ensembles when requested to do so at no extra cost.
Pupils are expected to:
- Treat the teacher, other pupils, and school instruments respectfully;
- Bring required music (note book if required) and instrument to each lesson.
- Practise daily at home all music explained and demonstrated by the teacher.
Should you wish to apply for music tuition, kindly return the completed application form to Mr Mokwena (Secretary of School of the Arts) – firstname.lastname@example.org
